Message first, medium second, then you walk the talk.

The key to a successful communications strategy is to consider what you are trying say and to who, then how you’re going to say it.

We have so many communications mediums available to us at the moment, it’s easy to get carried away with hype and to forget that without a strategy, throwing money at every tool available, might prove to be ineffective and expensive.

Having a clear strategy also helps you to find that ‘sweet spot’ that many brands and organisations are still not quite getting right, which is ensuring your offline and online communications are consistent and complimentary.

What is the purpose of your communications strategy? What are you trying to achieve? Who are you trying to talk to?

A strategy gives you a clear picture of what you are trying to achieve through your communications and allows you to dedicate the right resources, budget and timeline to achieve it.

Key services:

• Strategic communications

• Crisis response

• Reputation management

• Stakeholder relations

• Advocacy campaigns

• Personal branding strategy

• Community engagement

Choosing the medium that will speak to your audience and tell your story.

You have access to so many different mediums to tell your story, but not all are right for the story you are trying to tell or for the audience you are trying to talk to.

Creating a strategy, based on research, brand knowledge, organisational culture and an understanding of the audience, allows you to pick the right mix to tell your story.

Janelle believes a successful communications strategy is based on using a balance of:

• Traditional media editorial

• Traditional media advertising

• Authentic social media campaigns

• Social media advertising

• Consistent social media engagement

• Building key relationships with brand ambassadors, both online and offline

Helping you understand how to make your online and offline communications compliment each other.

There’s no denying that social media is awesome, but we spend so much time counting followers, scheduling posts and making our Instagram accounts look shiny, that we forget that real people, want to have real conversations with us sometimes.

It’s important to be able to build your online community, but it’s crucial to be able to generate some of that audience into people who use your services and buy your product. This is where balancing online and offline becomes important.

Key services:

• Engaging employees in campaigns to become organisational ambassadors

• Online and offline network building (connecting you to the right people)

• Putting real humans and authenticity at the heart of your campaigns

• Real life, offline face-to-face engagement campaigns

• Guidance on how to measure social media ROI
